A.J. Emami, MD, FACS

Dr. Emami is board certified in both sleep medicine and otolaryngology – head and neck surgery and currently serves as the Chief of Staff at St. Mary’s Hospital. He received his bachelors from Occidental College in 1988 and his MD from the University of Cincinnati in 1992. He completed an internship at the University of Southern California, Huntington Memorial Hospital in 1993, a residency in general surgery at the University of Southern California, Huntington Memorial Hospital in 1994 and in otolaryngology at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1997. He then finished a fellowship in laryngology at University of British Columbia, Vancouver General Hospital in 1998. Before serving as the Chief of Staff at St. Mary’s Hospital he held the position of Chief Division of Otolaryngology from 1999-2003, Chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital from 2003-2005 and the Chief of Staff Elect at St. Mary’s Hospital from 2005-2007.

Adam D. Ray, MD

Dr. Ray studied at the University of Arizona and received his bachelors in 1996. He studied medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and received his MD in 2000. He completed his internship at the department of surgery at the Southern Illinois School of Medicine in 2002 and his residency at the department of surgery at the Southern Illinois School of Medicine in 2006. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a member of the St. John’s Hospital Quality Assurance Committee, the Multidisciplinary Trauma Committee and the Graduate Medical Education Committee.

Biography: Dr. Kevin Blume was born in Mattoon, Illinois where he grew up on his family farm. He later moved to Champaign, Illinois where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology with minors in Business and Chemistry from the University of Illinois. After completing college, he attended Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, Iowa. During medical school, he took great pride in being a leader of his class serving as Class Treasurer for all four years and President of a national medical student interest group.

Dr. Blume completed his five-year residency in Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery through the McLaren Health System in affiliation with Wayne State University and Michigan State University. During his last two years of residency, he was honored to be named Chief Resident. He also held a clinical faculty position through Michigan State University for two years. Dr. Blume continues to enjoy lecturing to medical students, residents, and faculty.
